Hi, Froggy's is taking shape! 🐸

It has been a good while since I've last shared progress on "Hi, Welcome to Froggy's!", my silly time management game about surviving the night shift at your local Froggy's store.

Progress has been very slow since the last update last year; reason being that I had to grind days and nights to finally get out of the job that inspired this game. And I'm happy to report that it worked!
I now have a way better situation, I changed country, and I also released a small project last Christmas (not on itch for now, but the game is really good imo ;) )

After finishing the mechanics of night 4, I finally took the leap and started redoing all the graphics of the game. And for such a small game, Froggy's has a lot of them.

This include for example the backgrounds that all have parallax effect, some smooth animation to give you a sense of place when running around to keep this place afloat.

Here's an example of the drawing process for one of the most important one (👉 original post)

Finding time has been a struggle, but one after the other each gray blocks and thick brushstrokes are getting replaced by actual images. It helps that I've been really working hard on my drawing skill this past year.

If you're curious, I've recently created a gallery of my recent illustrations, including concept art for Froggy's!

Here's the current state of the game as of today:

When you compare the footage of the first version, it really is night and day.

Once I'm finished with the different items for night 2 and 3, I'm really excited to finally tackle the characters. I really love them and I can't wait to finally bring them to life. I'll surely share my progress then!

"Hi, Welcome to Froggy's!" is made entirely in Ren'Py, a visual novel engine that I have bended to my will to create this weird action/time management game inspired by my past experience as a night worker.
The game will be completely free on release!

You can find the demo here on itch ; although I will not be updating it with the new graphics at this moment, as I don't want to maintain two versions.

See you in a bit! Ribbit! 🐸
